About Our Church
“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38Our Vision and Mission
Our vision is to see lives transformed, disciples equipped, and our community impacted through the power of God’s Word and His unfailing love.
Our mission is to reach the lost with the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ, creating a welcoming and loving community where people can encounter God’s presence. We seek to nurture believers, make disciples, and extend the love of Christ to our city and beyond.
We Believe
We believe in the one true and living God
who has manifested himself as the Father in creation, the Son in redemption, and the Holy Ghost in regeneration. 1 Timothy 1:17; 3:16, Acts 2:4, 1 John 5:7
We believe in the divine inspiration of the Bible
that the scriptures we possess today are the sufficient rule of faith and practice, and the final authority for truth and salvation being God’s Word to man. 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21
We believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ
the good news that the only begotten Son of God died for us on Calvary’s cross, was buried but rose again the third day, and is now exalted as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
We believe in the original plan of salvation
as proclaimed for the first time on the Day of Pentecost, which includes sincere repentance, water baptism by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, evidenced by speaking in tongues. Acts 2:1-39; 10:44-48; 19:1-6
We believe in practicing genuine Christianity
through love for God and mankind, prayer, obedience to the Bible, heartfelt worship, sharing our faith, commitment to family, honesty, holiness, and dedication to the Kingdom of God on earth. Romans 12 & 13, Colossians 3 & 4, Hebrews 12 & 13
We believe in the second coming of Christ
that glorious day when Jesus shall return for His people and we will rise to meet Him in the air to be with Him forever. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
We pray together aloud
In the Bible we read, “They lifted up their voice to God with one accord.”
Acts 4:24
We lift our hands in praise
In the Bible we read, “Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord.” Psalm 134:2
We sing with all our hearts
In the Bible we read, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise and rejoice, and sing praise.” Psalm 98:4
We play musical instruments
In the Bible we read, “And all the house of Israel played before the Lord on all manner of instruments.” 2 Samuel 6:5
We clap and shout unto God
In the Bible we read, “O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.” Psalm 47:1
We dance before the Lord
In the Bible we read, “Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.” Psalm 150:4
We allow the operation of the spiritual gifts
In the Bible we read, “Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.”
1 Corinthians 12:4-7
Our Leadership

Pastor Dan & Sister Annette Richardson
Pastor Dan and his wife, Annette, have been married for 26 years. They have been the proud guardians of their granddaughter, Kalyn, since she was 13 years old; she is now 19.
Pastor Dan began his career at a local steel mill in 1970 after graduating from high school. Over the years, he completed a millwright apprentice program, became a journeyman millwright, worked as an overhead crane operator, and later transitioned into the Central Receiving Department as a clerk. During his time there, he served as a supervisor in both the shipping department and Central Receiving.
In 1980, he felt led to build a church in Henry, Illinois. The congregation transformed an old lumber warehouse into a beautiful house of worship, where he pastored for ten years before stepping down. That church continues to thrive today.
He retired from the steel mill in July 2001 when the plant prepared to shut down. Shortly after, he began working as a third-year plumbing apprentice. In April 2002, he passed the state board exam and obtained his plumber’s license. He worked as a plumber for seven years before retiring once again in 2008.
Following his retirement, Pastor Dan and Annette, along with his brother Gary, sister-in-law Kay, daughter Margit, son-in-law Clay, granddaughter Teresa, and Andrew Adams, felt God calling them to start a new church. They began in a storefront building, trusting God to lead the way.
In 2012, while driving through Spring Valley on the way to church in Mendota, Pastor Dan felt a burden from God for this city. Every time he traveled, he intentionally went through Spring Valley, weeping for souls and praying for the community. He and Annette began searching for a building to rent, eventually finding one on Saint Paul Street. They signed a three-year lease and, with the help of others, remodeled the space to prepare for services by February 2013. After petitioning the city for a special use permit, they were granted approval to begin ministry there.
For the next three years, Pastor Dan attempted to purchase a different building that he felt God had set aside for the church. In 2015, they were given an old restaurant building known as the “Big House.” However, when they petitioned the city for rezoning, the request was denied, and they decided to sell the property.
In November 2016, the owner of the building Pastor Dan had been pursuing finally called to say he was ready to sell. With a down payment and a ten-year contract for deed, the church secured the building. By God’s grace, the mortgage was paid off in just four years, in November 2020.
The church operates entirely through volunteer efforts; no one, including Pastor Dan, receives a salary. Instead of passing an offering plate, a box is placed at the front of the sanctuary for those who wish to give. Thanks to the generosity of the congregation and a hands-on approach to remodeling, much has been accomplished.
Today, the church family continues to grow, averaging about 75 in attendance. Annette serves faithfully as the worship leader. She sings, plays the keyboard, and schedules worship songs for every service. Her dedication and partnership are vital to the ministry, and her contributions are deeply valued.
The leadership team is excited about what God continues to do through the church and looks forward to seeing how He will move in the lives of those in the community.
